Rupert Smith's Queer Salons
Celebrate the flamboyant female performers who have inspired and delighted lesbian and gay audiences over the last 100 years. We adore them, we impersonate them, we want to be them - or be with them.
Through a mixture of talks, performance, screenings and audience participation, this event will look at the complex relationship between queer audiences and their divas of choice.
Contributors include:
- David McAlmont on Shirley Bassey
- Amy Lamé on Dusty Springfield
- Heidi Liscious on Madonna and Bette Midler
- Joe Pop on the divas in his life
- Rupert Smith on Dalida
Plus take part in and enjoy:
- the Diva Fever quiz from Marcus Reeves
- diva make-overs from Performotopia
- film clips from the BFI archive
